Northampton is a small, yet busy community, nestled peacefully in the Lehigh Valley, which is located about 60 miles north of Philadelphia. Northampton has a fully staffed, Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works Department and various other committees and organizations. Also, there is always plenty to do in Northampton, ranging from a day of shopping at all the various stores located in the Borough to a pleasant walk on the Canal Street Heritage Walkway. The Heritage Trail follows the Lehigh River for over a mile through the Borough and has some of the most picturesque scenery found for miles around. So come visit Northampton either just for a daytrip or to check out one of the several well planned community events the Borough hosts.

Northampton Borough Council
The Borough Council is made up of elected officials who plan and decide ideas that will make the Borough and even better place to live. The Borough Council meet every 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:30. The Borough Council members are as follows (Back Row, Left to Right): Joe Leitgeb Jr., Michael Bernini, Robert Coleman, Vice President of Council Ronald Spengler, Mayor Thomas D. Reenock, Sherry Maikits, Robert McHale, Anthony Lopsonzski. The Northampton Police Department is one of the finest law enforcement departments around. This department is under the supervision of Chief Ronald Morey. The department is staffed with Sergeant Bryan Kadingo and 9 other full time police officers and 8 part time officers. All of these officers are dedicated to protect and serve and uphold all laws to help make this one of the safest communities in the area.

Northampton Fire Department
The Northampton Fire Department is a department of 45 dedicated volunteer fire fighters. They are under the direct supervision of Fire Chief Robert Solderich. Another portion of the Fire Department is the Fire Police. Within this department are 18 men and women who also volunteer their time to assist the Fire Fighters with closing streets near a scene and directing traffic. As always, the Fire Department urges you to use extreme safety when dealing with fire and also to regularly change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

The Northampton Public Works Road Crew is made up of 12 full time employees who focus on constantly improving and maintaining the Borough. The various projects the road crew accomplishes ranges from; repaving streets, painting street markings and curb sides, maintaining all of the parks in the Borough, snow clearing and removal, and the list goes on. Also ,to prevent any accidents, if you see one of their bright orange trucks parked on the side of the road, pass it with caution because without the road crew, Northampton would not look as beautiful as it does.

Northampton Area Public Library
When it comes to reading and education of literacy the Northampton Area Public Library has been the staple that has held this community together for many years. The Library servers residents of the Northampton School District, which includes seven other boroughs and townships. The Library also hosts several events a year to encourage children to learn to read and expound their vocabulary.
