The Northampton Police Department is one of the finest law enforcement departments around. This department is under the supervision of Chief Ronald Morey. The department is staffed with Sergeant Bryan Kadingo and 10 other full time and 6 part time officers. All of these officers are dedicated to protecting, serving and upholding all laws which help make this one of the safest communities in the area.
The Northampton Fire Department is a department of 45 dedicated volunteer firefighters. They are under the direct supervision of Fire Chief Robert Solderich. Another portion of the Fire Department is the Fire Police. Within this department are 18 men and women who volunteer their time to assist the firefighters with closing streets and directing traffic. As always, the Fire Department urges you to use extreme safety when dealing with fire and to regularly change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
The Northampton Public Works Department is made up of 10 full time employees who focus on constantly improving and maintaining the Borough. This department is responsible for road maintenance, including repaving streets, maintaining sanitary and storm sewers, painting street markings and curbsides, maintaining the Borough parks, snow plowing and snow removal. Should you see any of the Borough vehicles along the road, please take extra precaution when passing.
When it comes to reading, the Northampton Area Public Library has been a staple that has held our community together for many years. The library serves residents of the Northampton Area School District, which includes seven other Boroughs and Townships. The library also hosts several events each year where children are encouraged to learn to read and expand their vocabulary. Please feel free to contact the librarian, Susan Monroe, with any questions or visit the Northampton Area Public Library's website - www.northamptonapl.org
BOROUGH PARKS
The Borough of Northampton has five community parks to serve our residents needs. Park permits for pavilion reservations are available to Borough residents on the first working day in March of each year. Non-residents may make reservations beginning on the first working day in April. All of the Borough parks have electricity available. However, no circuit will support more than one large roaster or crockpot. Please plan your visit and meals accordingly.
Call the Borough office -610-262-2576 -
to inquire about reservations.
The Atlas Cement Museum was made possible through a generous grant from U.S. Generating Company. The museum links the wonderful Atlas memories to the new industry that has taken up residence on this legendary site. Families still remember when cement was "king." The Atlas Museum lists the names of thousands of former employees on the wall of honor. Exhibits of photographs, artifacts and a giant mural attempt to preserve the heritage and lore of the Atlas for future generations. The Museum is open to the public on the 2nd and 4th Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. between May and September. Curator Edward Pany and a core group of volunteers staff and maintain this Borough treasure. Group tours are available. Please call Mr. Pany at 610-262-4562 to make arrangements.
